we have a great opportunity for those of you living in the Montreal area to get involved in the IPY 2012 From Knowledge to Action Conference!
Dave Fox, whom some of you may know, was the APECS representative on the Local Organizing Committee and has been helping to locate cheap accommodation for early career researchers for the conference and finding some fun venues and providing information that will help us enjoy Montreal a little more next year. Fortunately for David, he has taken a job that will move him away from Montreal... so we are looking for someone to help fill his shoes...
If you always wanted to know how conferences are planned and how the logistics on site are organized, this is a great way gain some experience.... and a great way to meet new people who can help you throughout your careers.
What would you have to do? You would work with the other senior members of the local organizing committee to plan the local events in Montreal, preparing the conference venue and finding volunteers to help during the conference and everything that needs to be organized locally. You'd also be the connection for the early career researcher events to the local organizing committee.
