Hi NC reps,

I'm passing on the below message from our Council co-chair Rachel Downey. She's among others the APECS link on the SCAR Wikibomb event "Celebrating Women in Antarctic Research" (http://www.scar.org/outreach/women) organized as part of the upcoming SCAR OSC 2016 in Kuala Lumpur and she's looking for additional volunteers.

Please get in touch with her if you are interested to help and feel free to pass on to your NC leaderships! You don't have to attend the conference to help :)

Cheers,

Gerlis

Dear National Committee Reps,

SCAR 2016 are organising a special event to celebrate and raise the visibility of female Antarctic researchers on Wikipedia. We have had over 150 nominations for notable women scientists, and we a currently working on getting these biographies onto Wikipedia. We are asking for volunteers for a few of their hours to help gather information about our nominated women to help us achieve our aim.
We are particularly looking for volunteers from these countries: Belgium, Russia, Argentina, China, Bulgaria, Japan, Canada, as nominated women scientists from these countries are still under-represented in Wikipedia.

Please contact either myself (Rachel Downey: rachel.v.downey@gmail.com), Jenny Baeseman (jbaeseman@gmail.com), or Jan Strugnell (jan.strugnell@gmail.com) if you would like to help us in achieving our goal.

Many thanks,
Rachel Downey
