Hi APECS Canada members! Posting this for a colleague of mine. See below for description. Please contact Dr. Bonnaventure directly if you have any questions.

High Arctic microclimatic hotspot assessment, Cape Bounty, Nunavut, Canada
I am currently in search of a candidate to fill an M.Sc. position in surface microclimate and permafrost variability in the Department of Geography at the University of Lethbridge in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada to begin in September 2016. The ideal candidate would hold a B.Sc. or B.A. in physical geography or a related discipline, with a strong background in climatology, geomorphology, geomatics and field science. The research portion of this degree will involve both modelling and field work in the Canadian High Arctic and focus on the generation of high-resolution microclimatic models of surface and subsurface ground temperature variability.

The aim is to investigate the extent and variability of the landscape affected by the microclimatic effects of differential snow cover, and how the identification of these zones affect how we assess the spatial variability of projected climate change in High Arctic regions. The deadline for application for graduate programs at the University of Lethbridge is May 1, 2016 but a successful candidate has to be identified in advance of this deadline with the final selection coming no later than April 1, 2016. If you are interested in this position, please contact Philip P. Bonnaventure (Philip.bonnaventure@uleth.ca) for more information.
