Polar Week 2018

Hello APECS Canada,

Next week is Polar Week (March 19th - 23rd), and to celebrate we will be hosting a couple of fun events!

Throughout the week we will be posting #researchreality memes on our social media accounts. We would love for all of you to join us! If you have any fun photos of your polar research from the lab, the field, or anywhere else, please share them with us! We've included an example meme below.
Feel free to use our meme templates (also attached below), and post them on social media using our Twitter handle (@ehpecs), or reference our Facebook page (@APECS4Canada). These meme templates use Adobe Reader, which can be downloaded for free on both Mac's and PC's.

On Friday March 23rd APECS Canada will be hosting film viewings of the documentary Angry Inuk.
Various universities across Canada will be hosting presentations of the film on-campus, and so far universities which will be showing the film include:

  • University of Ottawa (University of Ottawa, Morisset Library Media Room MRT 153, 5-7 pm EST)
  • Université de Montréal (Café Bio, Pavillon Marie-Victorin, 4-7 pm EST)
  • University of Manitoba (Klaus Hochhiem Theatre, 5th Floor Wallace Building, 3-5 pm CST)

Last, but not least, POLAR has announced a new Canada-Finland Bioenergy Researcher Exchange Program. This exchange program for early-career researchers is between Yukon College in Whitehorse, and the Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke) in Joensuu, Finland. For more details see their webpage:

Happy Polar Week everyone!
