Hi louise,

I'm totally interested! But it depends a bit on timing and cost.

Hi everyone,

APECS Canada is please to announce an opportunity to its members, an online GIS workshop. The online workhop will be one day course on GIS for beginners (see below for details) using the GoToWebinar platform. Depending on the number of attendees, price should be between 100-150$ (but please note this is a call of interest and price will be determined by the number of people that sign up). To register, please send an email to chavarie@ualberta.ca before February 12.

GIS in the Polar Sciences

Abstract:
Attend a one-day on-line workshop on how to conduct a Geographical Information Systems (GIS) mini-project from start to finish. Rather than the boring way to learn about the separate tools and commands on data you don't care about, you will see in action how to go from spatial data prep, to analyses, to map presentation, on topics relevant to north/south of 60°! This will be beginner focused, using Esri technology, so if you've always wanted to know how to get started on using GIS in your own polar research, please join in on Thursday, March 26th, 2015.

Presenter Bio:
Charlene Nielsen is the GIS Analyst for Biological Sciences at the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Since 2001, she has collaborated with graduate students and faculty, providing teaching support for courses, developing and instructing local and international workshops, and managing the BioSciences GIS Lab. Charlene develops GIS solutions for research and education projects in multiple disciplines spanning aquatic, terrestrial, flora, fauna, environment, climate, ice, culture, social, and health.
cheers
