The 2014 PCSP Logistics Request Form is now available on the PCSP Logistics Request page. The deadline for submission of PCSP Logistics Request Forms is Sunday November 3, 2013 at 11:59pm Eastern Standard Time.

Note that we have been experiencing some technical difficulties with the request form. If you encounter any difficulties, please contact Chris Evans at 613-992-7264 or chris.evans@nrcan.gc.cafor assistance.

Additionally, we request that you please submit your publications list as an attachment as there have been issues with the formatting in this portion of the application.

University-based applicants: please find attached the Project Review Committee scoring guide, which details the manner in which your logistics request will be reviewed by the PRC.

L'échéance pour la présentation des formulaires de demande de soutien logistique du PPCP est le dimanche 3 novembre 2013 à 23 h 59, heure normale de l'Est.

Veuillez noter que nous avons expérimenté certaines difficultés techniques relativement au formulaire de demande. Si vous éprouvez des difficultés, veuillez communiquer avec Chris Evans au 613-992-7264 ou à chris.evans@nrcan.gc.ca pour obtenir de l'aide.

De plus, nous vous demandons de bien vouloir soumettre la liste de vos publications en pièce jointe, car nous avons éprouvé certaines difficultés relatives au formatage pour ce volet de la demande.

Aux demandeurs des universités : vous trouverez en pièce jointe le guide de cotation du Comité d'examen de projet (CEP), qui précise la façon dont votre demande de soutien logistique sera examinée par le CEP.

Short synopsis

"There is a bad atmosphere in Air City. Nasty substances harass the citizens…" They pollute the air and change the climate.

This film shows how we emit air pollutants that have an effect on climate (short-lived climate-forcing pollutants, SLCPs) and greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide in our everyday lives and what we can do to simultaneously reduce them as individuals and society for better air and climate.

Air pollution and climate change are two sides of the same coin. And if we start looking at these two problems as strongly linked challenges, we can make use of various co-benefits and reduce overall expenses for mitigation and coping with air pollution and climate change.

ASA Field School Deadline extension

Of interest to some of you!

From February 16-23, 2014, the ArcticNet Student Association (ASA) in partnership with the Arctic Science Partnership (ASP) and the Centre for Northern Studies (Centre d'études Nordiques, CEN), will be holding a field school at the CEN Whapmagoostui-Kuujjuarapik research station in northern Quebec. The event will bring together 20 graduate students from across the globe to learn about Arctic marine and freshwater systems, as well as the animals and vegetation within them, permafrost and contemporary issues facing northerners. Experienced instructors will cover these subjects through lectures, field activities, and interaction with the local communities.

All students attending the field school will be required to pay a $1000 participation fee which covers the charter airfare to and from Montreal airport, living expenses (food, lodging etc.) at the CEN facility, and supplies specific to field school activities. This fee does not cover expenses incurred from travel to and from Montreal, or personal supplies that may be required such as outdoor clothing, writing utensils etc. Additionally, students attending the field school will not be eligible for the ArcticNet Student Training Fund grant.

Students may choose to participate in this field school for course credit (3 credit hours) as Geography 7010 through the University of Manitoba. It is the responsibility of each student to determine whether this credit is transferable to his or her institution. Students interested in receiving credit will be required to:

· Register with the University following a successful field school application

· Pay a tuition fee (in addition to the participation fee)

· Successfully complete course assignments

Additional information on the process of taking the field school for credit, and payment of fees will be provided upon acceptance to the program.

Please mark your calendars: The 2014 PCSP Logistics Request Form will be available online as of Tuesday October 1, 2013 for a period of one month. The deadline for submission of PCSP Logistics Request Forms is Sunday November 3, 2013 at 11:59pm Eastern Standard Time. During this time, the request form will be available on our Logistics Request page. The request form will not be available online after this date.

Please do not access the logistics request form using a bookmarked page from a previous season. Linking to older versions of the form may cause problems with your submission.

Please consult our Arctic Operations Manual for information on successfully planning your field season.

University applicants: PCSP has updated its webpage to provide you with more information on how your logistics request is reviewed by the Project Review Committee (PRC). Please consult the Logistics Request page for more information.

Federal applicants: The process and timing for review of federal logistics requests has been updated this year. Prioritization by Coordinating Directors General of each department will take place in November and December. Please note that because your project will be prioritized by your Coordinating DG, you are no longer required to submit a letter of support from your management. You will receive a letter from PCSP in late December estimating the overall cost of your project and the projected value of PCSP direct, in-kind support available for your project.

All applicants: As part of our ongoing commitment to client satisfaction, PCSP will soon circulate a survey soliciting your feedback on the services that we offer. Please keep an eye out for this survey. PCSP continues to welcome your feedback via email (pcsp@nrcan.gc.ca) and telephone (613-947-1650).

Vous recevrez une lettre du PPCP à la fin de décembre dans laquelle les coûts de votre projet et la valeur estimée du soutien direct en nature du PPCP seront estimés.

Tous les demandeurs : Afin de maintenir nos efforts pour assurer la satisfaction de nos clients, le PPCP distribuera bientôt un formulaire de sondage pour recueillir vos rétroactions à propos de nos services.
